Element 79's take on "Orange Wine" is Amber 2019--Not everyone is familiar with orange style wines. First off, let's preface this by saying that orange wine has nothing to do with the citrus fruit. Many call orange wines, orange, simply because of the beautiful hue of the wine. The history of orange wine dates back thousands of years to what is now considered the country of Georgia, between Europe and Asia. Back then, the wines were fermented inside large clay urns and buried underground.

While we don't use this ancient method, we do borrow parts of its process. We select only the finest of our Viognier grapes, then ferment them with their skins still on, just like a red wine. This allows the wine to develop tannins, deeper aromatics, and of course that gorgeous color. Our 2019 Amber is 100% estate grown Viognier and has a uniquely floral nose. On the palette, stone fruit and marigold flowers combine with a decadent caramel finish. We are excitedly anticipating the pairing to our thanksgiving dinner because of the floral aromatics, fruity essences, and heightened acidity, it's bound to go with anything on your table
