It has been a busy week at Element 79 Vineyards. In addition to great progress on our tasting room and building out our website there was a lot of activity at the vineyard until the rains came on Wednesday. Our vineyard manangment crew was busy pruning starting at the top with Cane pruning of the Viognier and "one bud" pruning of the Petite Sirah. This will produce a higher quality product. More on that in another post.
Our friend Mark Forney joined us and we got a lesson in the best pruning practices from Leo and Tigger from Meyers Ranch Vineyard Managment our trusted partner in creating the best vineyard in El Dorado county. We used a new process to protect the vines from disease risk that can happen when it rains after pruning.
